March asking prices 'up'

Asking prices for properties grew by 0.8 per cent in the weeks up
until March 15th, according to new figures released by
Rightmove.
On average, the price of a property that went to market in the five
weeks up until this date was £239,655, the organisation
said.
But, Rightmove observed, if stagnation is not to be the outcome of
this trend, then sellers need to realise that "smart" figures have
to be put on homes.
And house price inflation on an annual basis dipped to five per
cent for this time period, Rightmove revealed.
Furthermore, the length of time it took to sell a property
decreased on average from 93 to 82 days, while sales levels were
down with an average of 67 properties on the books of estate
agents.
On average, stamp duty for first-time buyers based in the south now
stands at £7,533, SmartNewHomes.com has said, with those in
London usually paying more.
