London preference is for Zone 2

A new survey of those living in London has found that those areas
just outside central London are the most ideal for lifestyle
purposes.
In news that may interest buy-to-let investors in the capital, a
survey by property portal findaproperty.com established that the
most popular zone on the tube network in which to live was Zone 2,
as this provided the best combination of time and space.
In total, 46 per cent said they wanted to live no further out than
Zone 2 but just 14 per cent wanted to reside in the central Zone
1.
The survey found that given a choice between more time and more
space, 90 per cent of those in central London wanted more space,
while 70 per cent of those in the north, east and west of London
wanted more time.
Such findings may explain the popularity of Zone 2, as those in the
heart of the capital lack space and those in outer areas have
longer commutes.
Zone 2 includes parts of London such as Bermondsey, Shepherd's
Bush, Mile End and Maida Vale.
Those who wish to minimise their travel but cannot afford a Zone 2
property may opt for Zone 3, which includes locations such as
Wimbledon, Acton, Walthamstow and Finchley.
