Homeowners mulling move abroad

Nearly half of the UK's homeowners would consider a move abroad if
it meant they could be mortgage-free, new research has
revealed.
According to a study conducted by currency specialist HiFX, four
out of ten British mortgage holders would sell up and head abroad
if it meant they could afford to buy a house overseas
outright.
Meanwhile, some 37 per cent of respondents also said they harboured
plans to start a new life abroad due to fears over the current UK
economic climate.
Commenting on the poll HiFX director Mark Bodega said: "The results
of our research paint a stark picture of UK consumer confidence at
the moment.
"While moving overseas has long been a tradition for those seeking
sunnier climes, a different career path or a peaceful retirement,
it now seems that more and more people are no longer considering
emigration as a luxury but a necessity."
